Exporting contacts from Mailchimp
First, export your contact list from Mailchimp. (You can also find a manual for it here: Mailchimp View or Export a List.) To do that, log in to your Mailchimp account and click "Lists" in the menu. Your subscriber lists will appear. Click on the list you want to export.
After you've clicked on the chosen list, the more detailed list information page opens. From there, click "Export list".
In the next window that appears, click "Export As CSV".
A .zip folder will be downloaded to your computer, which contains the exported contact list as a .csv file.
Now you have the exported contact file. Go to the last step on this page, "Importing the exported contacts to Smaily".
Exporting contacts from Gmail
First, export your contact list from Gmail. (You can also view Gmail's original manual from here: Gmail Help.) Log in to your Gmail and click in the upper left corner on "Gmail", choose from dropdown "Contacts".
A list of contacts will appear. Click "More" and "Export".
The "Export contacts" dialog window will appear. From there, choose the "Outlook CSV format" and click "Export".
After that, the contacts.csv file will be downloaded to your computer. Go to the last step on this page, "Importing the exported contacts to Smaily".
Exporting contacts from Outlook
First, export your contact list from Outlook. If you are using Outlook 2007, 2009, 2013 or 2016, you can do the following to export the list. (You can also find a manual for these and for other versions of Outlook from here: Export Contacts from Outlook.)
Open Outlook and click in the upper left corner "File".
After that, click "Open & Export" (1) and "Import/Export" (2).
The Import and Export wizard opens. Click "Export to a file" and "Next". Then choose "Comma Separated Values" and click "Next".
After that, choose the "Contacts" list to export and click "Next".
Then click "Browse" and choose the location where to save the export file and write a name to it. After that you can click "Next".
In the next window, click "Finish" and Outlook will start to export your contact list. This can take a few moments depending on the size of the list.
After the export is finished, you can import the file to Smaily. Go to the last step on this page, "Importing the exported contacts to Smaily".
Importing the exported contacts to Smaily
When you have the file with exported contacts ready, it would be a good idea to clean it up a bit in Excel before uploading to Smaily. For that, open the file in Excel. If it doesn't open correctly, open it as "From Text". To do that, open a new Excel and click in the menu "Data" ➝ "From Text". (In this example I'm using Excel 2013.)
Now browse and choose the file you exported from Mailchimp, Gmail or Outlook. The Text Import Wizard appears. Choose the "Delimited" option from the first window and make sure the file origin is "Windows (ANSI)", then click "Next".
In the next window, choose "Comma" to be the delimiter and click "Next". If selecting comma doesn't give you the data in tables, you can try selecting semicolon.
After that, click "Finish" in the next window and "OK" to the "Import Data" dialog box.
Now you should be able to see the file correctly. You may notice that your file contains a lot of unnecessary columns, you can delete the ones you do not plan to use in Smaily. After that, save the file.
Then log in to Smaily, go to Contacts, browse the file you saved and upload it (Importing contacts). You have imported your contacts successfully!
